Fallow deer at Pridaux Place

The grounds of Elizabethan manor, Prideaux Place, are a must-visit. While the house is open for tours, it’s the surrounding park, home to a historic herd of fallow deer, that we return to.

Padstow's oldest pub

Tucked away from the harbour, The Golden Lion has low beams, roaring fires in winter and live music – making it a cosy spot year-round.
We like to stop in and ‘rest our feet’ after a coastal walk.

Cycle the Trail

Stretching from Padstow to Wadebridge and beyond, the old railway line is traffic-free and mostly flat, with estuary views at every turn. Whether cycling the full route or taking a gentle meander, it’s the best way to see the estuary.

A secret garden

Hidden on Duke Street, Prideaux Walled Garden and bothy is a hidden haven filled with flowers, herbs and quiet corners. We go for the calm, it’s a space to pause with a coffee overlooking the estuary, read in the bothy over lunch or simply enjoy the changing colours through the seasons. .

Stepper Point

Donning our boots and heading along the coast path, past the war memorial and towards Stepper Point is a walk I’ll never tire of. The light changes with the weather and as you approach the point, the iconic Daymark tower comes into view, standing watch over the Atlantic.
The views are glorious
