Voted for by a panel of over 200 food writers, chefs and restaurateurs convened by Restaurant magazine, two of Cornwall’s own were also given a rightful spot on the prestigious list.

Paul Ainsworth at No.6 has been given the impressive 25th spot. National Restaurant Awards said the Padstow Michelin-starred restaurant “has built a reputation for its fun approach to fine dining, serving modern British food with a focus on Cornish produce.”

It added: “Ainsworth is a playful character and someone who is keen to bring something new to the table, as it were. His ‘land & river’ dish of Crapaudine beetroot, with smoked eel, green apple, and caviar is one of the first to pass people’s lips, and it sets the tone perfectly for the quality and precision that follows.”

Ainsworth is a friend and former protégé of Gordon Ramsay and has always been proud to apply the lessons he has learned from the legendary restaurateur, to this day. With No 6 approaching its 20th anniversary, the National Restaurant Awards has not been in shy in commending Ainsworth’s “dedication and ambition” confident both will “burn as brightly as ever”.
